Science-Based Approaches to Teen Pregnancy Prevention PCPTP promotes the use of science-based approaches to reduce teen pregnancy. Using science-based approaches simply means relying on techniques, characteristics, activities and programs for which there is evidence of effectiveness. SBA refers not only to a type of program but also to the process for developing a program. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, PCPTP is one of nine states, four regional training centers, and three national organizations involved in a federal initiative to build the capacity of local coalitions and organizations to select, implement and evaluate science-based approaches to teen pregnancy prevention.
